Durand Railroad Days Royalty Committee is Accepting Applications for 2012 Railroad Days Prince

 

Durand Railroad Days Royalty Committee announces its 1st annual Prince Contest sponsored by All Aboard Resale Shop. The contest is for boys 7-10 years old who attend Durand Area Schools. Applicants must secure a sponsor to provide the $50 entry fee and place the contestant’s canister in their business from February 20th through March 2nd. Each cent collected in contestant’s canister will equal one vote. Winner will be determined by the most votes received and will be announced on March 14,, 2012 in coordination with the Miss Railroad Days Crowning Ceremony.

 

Contestants will be photographed courtesy of Kevin Byrnes Photography at All Aboard Resale Shop. Each contestant will receive a participation ribbon and a copy of their photograph. The Railroad Days Prince will also receive a $50 savings bond, crown and sash. He will represent the 37th annual Durand Railroad Days Festival held on May 18th, 19th, and 20th, 2012, the weekend after Mother’s Day. The Railroad Days Prince will appear in various parades and community functions throughout the coming year.

 

A Crowning Ceremony for the 2012 Queen, Attendant, Princess and Prince will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the grand ballroom of Durand Union Station—Michigan Railroad History Museum at 200 Railroad Street in Durand.
